Evolving Skies revolves around two themes that surprisingly complement each other well: all eight Eeveelutions each receive a complete V and VMAX treatment, while simultaneously the Dragon-type makes its first return to the game since the Sun & Shield era. The most sought-after cards emerge from that combination — the alternate-art Umbreon VMAX and Glaceon VMAX appeal to the aesthetically-minded collector, while Rayquaza VMAX serves dragon enthusiasts with the weight of a classic legend. It's a set that, in retrospect, feels increasingly logical as an anchor point in a collection: broad enough to honor two entire Pokémon families, specific enough to truly mean something.
