Shining Legends is a special expansion within the Sun & Moon series that focuses on legendary and mythical Pokémon, with its standout feature being the return of so-called Shining Pokémon — cards featuring alternate color variants that first appeared in the Neo Destiny set from the nineties. The most coveted cards from this set are the Mewtwo-GX in its secret rare printings and the Shining Mew, which collectors still regard as timeless anchor pieces. Because Shining Legends boosters were available exclusively through special collector products and not as loose booster boxes, the set has maintained its own distinct character from the start, which only strengthens its value as a collectible.
