The Sun & Moon base set, released on February 3rd, 2017, ushers in a new era for the Pokémon TCG: for the first time, the Alola starters Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio make their card debut, alongside the legendary duo Solgaleo-GX and Lunala-GX as the set's flagship faces. More importantly, it introduced the Pokémon-GX mechanic — more powerful cards featuring a unique GX attack that each player can use only once per game, available in regular, Full Art, and rare Secret Rainbow Rare versions. For the serious collector, it's the Umbreon-GX and Espeon-GX in their secret rainbow variant that cement this set as an enduring cornerstone in modern TCG history.
